HIV Awareness Seminar

According to the World Health Organization, there were approximately 37.9 million people living with HIV at the end of 2018 with 1.7 million people becoming newly infected in 2018 globally. The Department of Health (DOH) said that there have been 63,278 confirmed HIV cases reported in the Philippines since the first case of HIV infection in the country was discovered in 1984. They recorded more than 1,200 newly-diagnosed cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) during the month of January.

PECCI supports the World Health Organization's thrust on information campaign about HIV and AIDS wherein HIV-related cases have increased and become rampant in recent years here in the Philippines. The seminar is intended as an awareness campaign for all PECCI members regarding the HIV virus that causes untimely death and also stigma to those who are infected.
