Family Planning and Parenting Responsibly: A Guide for Life's Journey.

The PECCI MPC met on a dreary afternoon to discuss the important issue of family planning and appropriate parenting. On September 23, 2023, a group of people from all over the world joined together on Zoom for an enlightening webinar. The keynote speaker was the respected Dr. Evelia Sator, a retired college dean from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. She is widely regarded as an authority on community development and responsible parenting thanks to her significant experience as the former Chairperson of Tagum Cooperative and the chairman of the Mindanao Development Center-MASS-SPECC.

Everyone from newlyweds anxious to start a family to seasoned parents needing advice registered for the webinar. Dr. Sator stressed the significance of verbal and nonverbal communication in family planning, as it is the cornerstone of family harmony and respect.

Dr. Sator's friendly and approachable demeanor shone through throughout the webinar, making everyone feel at ease. She got pretty introspective, recounting stories from her life as a college dean and a mother. Her honest accounts of the ups and downs of motherhood struck a chord with listeners.

She stressed the need to give each child the attention, affection, and opportunity they deserve, regardless of the family's size, when discussing what it means to be responsible parents. Dr. Sator urged the group to plan their families with careful consideration of their specific situations, financial stability, and emotional preparation.

The webinar's topics went beyond mere theory. Dr. Sator gave a thorough analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of various family planning techniques. She stressed the significance of speaking with medical experts to determine which approach is best for each person or couple.

Discussion and questions from the audience were encouraged. Participants felt more connected to one another due to this participatory format. Teenage parents requested guidance on how to broach the topic of sexual responsibility with their children, while young couples inquired about reproductive awareness techniques. Dr. Sator's answers were always thoughtful, supported by data, and based on her significant experience.

All of those who participated in the webinar remember it fondly. Families were strengthened, and a feeling of community was fostered as people worldwide came together in an online event to pledge their support for responsible parenting. The route to healthier, happier, and better-informed families in the Philippines and beyond was made clear by Dr. Evelia Sator's insight.
